WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT WORKING WITH ME
My graduation from the Aboriginal Leadership Development Initiative (ALDI) in 2020 was a direct result of the mentorship your team and our Elders provided me over the duration of the 18 month program.
I want also to acknowledge your direct contribution to my personal career development growth. Throughout the program, you paid extra attention to my unique challenges of working overseas in a very busy position between our six week-long sessions and the demanding international commutes every few months.
You always proactively met with me, be it Ottawa, Iqaluit, Saskatoon, etc, to simply check in bilaterally and to offer your personal assistance in any way possible to balance my ALDI coursework requirements alongside my ongoing daily workloads back in Brussels.
And when I was overseas, you made yourself available to me by email and telephone during my evenings (given the time zone difference) for consults.
In fact, as I progressed in the program, your overall mentorship was something that I came to deeply value. I firmly believe that your efforts went above and beyond. For example, you counselled me on a promotion exercise that extended beyond my graduation from ALDI and your guidance and mentorship made a positive difference in both my professional and personal life.
Your ongoing frank and honest feedback was invaluable. You challenged me to develop and grow. And I believe that I did, thanks to you. The leadership tools that you offered and helped me to fully understand benefit me to this day.
You exemplified leadership through your coaching and by setting an example for me on what leadership means to inspire someone to challenge them to set goals.
Today I consider you both a friend and mentor. And for that I am grateful. Chi-meegwetch.
